sweet potato smoothie

If you’ve been following my instagram lately you’ve probably seen that I’m a smoothie addict. It’s such an easy way to get a lot of veggies and nutrients into your body first thing in the AM! But sometimes I get bored of green smoothies and ALSO it’s good to eat more grounding foods like sweet potatoes and ginger in the cold months, so this smoothie is perfect for the winter.

chicken pozole verde

David and I spent Christmas this year in Kansas where we had a delicious white chicken chili at Old Mill Tasty Shop. After coming home to LA, David asked if I’d recreate something similar to eat at home. Because he doesn’t love beans, I went for something more akin to a pozole verde so we could use hominy instead. Pozole verde usually has pork instead of chicken, but I prefer the taste of chicken so I went with that. Because of these swap outs it’s not super traditional, but the end result is still really tangy and hearty and healthy!

pink latte

I love juicing.  I know you lose the fiber when you juice (I KNOW, OK!), and I know it can be a little time consuming and expensive, but I find the process oddly soothing and gratifying.  Not to mention that fresh juice is extremely hydrating and full of vitamins so there we go I'm gonna keep doing it.  High on the list of fun veggies to juice are beets.  Why?  Because they're pink.  And because they're full of B vitamins, folate, and lots of antioxidants.  But mostly the pink thing.
